Jeera Holds Gains After Recent Surge
NCDEX Jeera futures continue to see volatile trades as traders eye a shortage in local physical markets and the approaching expiry of the near month futures is weighing on the trading sentiments. The near month July futures are about to expire on 19th of this month and are currently trading flat at Rs 17970 per quintal amid thin trades. The benchmark August futures on NCDEX soared sharply recently, breaking above Rs 18000 per quintal and hit a contract high of Rs 18350 per quintal yesterday. The futures have soared nearly 8% in this month so far given worries about the weather in Gujarat and a slight moderation in ready arrivals. The counter currently trades at Rs 18165 per quintal, up 0.25% on the day. Saurashtra & Kutch region in the state has seen a rainfall deficit of more than 50% of normal rainfall till so far and that is likely to buoy the sentiments for Jeera prices in coming days. The arrivals in major market at Unjha have eased a little in last week, averaging around 5000 bags per day...
